Obituary of Kathryn J. Jewett

Kathryn Jane Kleisley Jewett was born on July 30, 1939 to Harvey & Edith (McKee) Kleisley. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1956 and received her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from SUNY Brockport in 1960. She married Gordon Jewett who also graduated from Marshall and Brockport. They were married on August 13, 1960. In 1968 she was diagnosed with MS but she continued to teach Phys Ed & Health at Madison High School and Edison Tech High School until she retired in 1994. Kathryn was adored by all who knew her, and she will be sadly missed.

Besides her immediate family, Kathryn is predeceased by her great nephew, Noah Passero and survived by nieces & nephews, Wendy (Daniel) Passero, Daniel Yazwinski, Jean (Mike) Knapp and great nieces & nephews, Nicholas Passero, Kelly & Ava Yazwinski, Kaylee & Corey Knapp.

Born July 30, 1939 and died January 20, 2019 at age 79. Predeceased by her husband, Gordon Jewett; parents, Harvey & Edith (McKee) Kleisley; sister, Roberta “Bobbie” Yazwinski. She is survived by her children, Scott Gordon (Jennifer) Jewett of Orlando, FL, Heather Lynne (Thomas) Scoppa; grandchildren, Quinn Alyse Butterman, Spencer Gordon Jewett, Dylan Patrick Jewett; brother-in-law, Andrew Yazwinski; several nieces & nephews. Kathryn was a retired teacher from Madison and Edison Tech High Schools. 

 

Kathryn’s visitation will be on Saturday January 26, 2019 from 10 am – 12 pm with a short service to follow at 12 pm all at the funeral home, 15 West Ave. Spencerport. Interment private.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Research, 1000 Elmwood Ave. Suite 900, Rochester, NY 14620 in Kathryn’s memory.
